Jamie Lee Curtis Slams Plastic Surgery: “We have wiped out a generation or two of natural human [appearance].”

Jamie Lee Curtis has no plans for plastic surgery.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, the 67-year-old actress expressed her belief that “we have wiped out a generation or two of natural human [appearance].”

“The concept that you can alter the way you look through chemicals, surgical procedures, fillers – there’s a disfigurement of generations of predominantly women who are altering their appearances,” she explained. “And it is aided and abetted by AI, because now the filter face is what people want.”

Curtis highlighted that AI and filters blur the line between authenticity and aspiration, further complicating the way people — particularly women — see themselves.

“The minute I lay a filter on and you see the before and after, it’s hard not to go: ‘Oh, well that looks better.’ But what’s better? Better is fake. And there are too many examples – I will not name them – but very recently we have had a big onslaught through media, many of those people,” she said.

While she opposes plastic surgery, she acknowledges it’s not her place to dictate what others do with their bodies, adding “I’m not proselytizing to them,” but knows “that it is a never-ending cycle,” which she compares to an addiction.

In a May appearance on “60 Minutes,” Curtis candidly discussed her past cosmetic procedures and the profound regret that ensued.

“[A cinematographer] was like, ‘Yeah, I’m not shooting her today. Her eyes are baggy.’ And I was 25?” she recalled. “So as soon as the movie finished, I ended up having some plastic surgery.”

The Halloween star said the surgery didn’t go well and she regrets it to this day, adding, “That’s just not what you wanna do when you’re 25 or 26. And I regretted it immediately and have kind of sort of regretted it since.”
