Margot Robbie is reportedly in talks to star in Tim Burton’s remake of “Attack of the Fifty-Foot Woman” for Warner Bros, as stated by Variety. If the deal goes through, she will produce the film through her company, LuckyChap, with partners Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara.
The film will offer a new take on the 1958 cult sci-fi horror classic, which follows a wealthy heiress who dramatically increases in size after encountering an alien and sets out to take revenge on her cheating husband.
Last February, it was announced that Burton is reimagining the 1958 science-fiction horror film, and is set to direct and produce with Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper, while Kai Dolbashian serves as executive producer.
Novelist Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl, Sharp Objects, Widows), initially wrote the first draft of the screenplay but has since left the project due to other commitments. The production team is currently searching for a new writer, and Margot Robbie’s involvement as the lead actor will depend on the final version of the script.
Warner Bros is reportedly keen to collaborate with Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap, following the success of the Oscar-winning film “Barbie.” This film is not only the highest-grossing movie of 2023, with $1.45 billion in global earnings, but it is also the biggest film in the studio’s 100-year history. As a result, Warner Bros signed LuckyChap to a multi-year, first-look feature film deal to work on future projects together.
Likewise, in 2024, the studio had great success with Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a sequel to his 1988 classic. Released nearly 40 years later, it earned $452 million at the global box office.
Robbie will next star in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights opposite Jacob Elordi and directed by Emerald Fennell. Additionally, Robbie is working on movie adaptations of “The Sims” and “Monopoly,” hoping to include a meta element similar to her successful film “Barbie.”
